This coming Sunday, El Salvador will celebrate 203 years of independence and some of the main streets of San Salvador will be the stage for more than 2,200 students from 15 public and private educational centers to parade.

The students will honor their country with a civic act and will be accompanied by peace bands and traditional cheerleaders and dancers who will perform different choreographies.

The student parade will go along Roosevelt Avenue, from the Beethoven fountains to Cuscatlán Park. In addition, civic parades will take place in the rest of the municipalities of the country.

“Around 2,200 students will participate, both from the public and private sectors, and there will also be 423 teachers waiting for the organization. As the Ministry of Education, it is an honor to participate in this civic parade, in this true independence that we are experiencing in El Salvador,” said the Minister of Education, Mauricio Pineda.

1,002 musicians from the Banda El Salvador will also participate, which is made up of young people from the 14 departments of the country. “We are preparing a symphonic concert in the afternoon, we invite you to meet in the Historic Center, in front of the National Palace, at 5 p.m. It will be free,” added the Minister of Culture, Raúl Castillo.

For his part, Health Minister Francisco Alabi indicated that 10 ambulances from the Medical Emergency System (SEM) will be deployed and recommended that the population stay hydrated and not expose themselves to sunlight for long periods of time. “There will also be six fixed points that will be providing assistance in the event of any situation that may arise,” Alabi indicated.

The Vice Ministry of Transportation (VMT) will close the section of the Roosevelt avenue from the Divino Salvador del Mundo plaza to the Cuscatlán park. The total closure will be from midnight on Sunday until the parade ends, approximately at 12 noon. In the section from the Beethoven Fountains to the Divino Salvador del Mundo Plaza area, there will be controlled traffic from 3 p.m. this Saturday, and it will return to normal when the cleaning is finished and the platforms and stands are removed.
