MedINA’s new project “Let it Flow!” started its activities dynamically in Konitsa, with main allies students and teachers of the Middle and High Schools of the wider region.

With a focus on environmental education, based on a role play, the project aims to encourage and involve the student and educational community in the comprehensive protection of the Aoos river basin and its tributaries.
The beginning took place in mid-March and within a school environment – at the Gymnasium, the General Lyceum and the EPAL of Konitsa, with references to the special characteristics of the catchment area of the Aoos, the rich biodiversity, the ecological value of the area and the challenges associated with his protection. At the same time, it was realized that Konitsa is part of a wider network, extending from the Balkans to the Arctic Circle, of the European Green Belt.
The next activity, accompanied by school teachers, was about getting to know the role play, the heart of Let it Flow! During the meeting, game components were revealed, questions were raised and a creative feedback dialogue was opened. The role-play will create the appropriate context for students to put themselves in the shoes of the stakeholders, explore and negotiate the future of the Aoos River, while at the same time recognizing the value of science and fruitful dialogue.
The continuation of the project is predicted to be equally exciting! With educational field trips, in the bed of the Sarandaporos river, the students will get to know the characteristics of the river ecosystem, the identity of the river, its values and functions, but also observe/record any human interventions in the river.
The project “Let it Flow!” is implemented by MedINA in collaboration with the Environmental Education Center (ECE) of Konitsa and is financed by the European Green Belt through the BESTbelt project with EuroNatur as the lead partner, with the financial support of the European Union.
