jpnn.comJAKARTA – Deputy Secretary General (Wasekjen) of the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PB PMII) Hasnu Ibrahim called on prospective members of the Indonesian Audit Board (BPK) to be transparent in avoiding political practices.

Hasnu also demanded that the Indonesian House of Representatives be open regarding the development of the stages of the selection of members of the Indonesian BPK.

According to him, the non-transparent selection process for BPK members indicates several things. First, the unprofessionalism of the Indonesian House of Representatives in conducting the selection.

In addition, Hasnu said that the closed selection process was suspected of being an entry point for the Indonesian House of Representatives to accommodate prospective members from political parties.

“This is the seed of the birth of corrupt practices,” said Hasnu when contacted, Tuesday (23/7).

In addition, the selection process that tends to be closed also strengthens the suspicion of an interest in systematically destroying the future of the BPK. Because, with the entry of political elements into the BPK, the financial audit institution will never be free from political intervention.

Therefore, Hasnu urged the Indonesian House of Representatives to reject candidates from political parties. He considered it important to maintain the dignity of the BPK as a professional financial audit institution that remains dignified and has integrity.

“We invite the public to actively participate in order to closely monitor the ongoing selection process,” he said.

The Indonesian House of Representatives is required to be open regarding the development of the selection stages for members of the Indonesian Audit Board (BPK).
