The Cuban team UH Top from the Faculty of Mathematics and Computing of the University of Havana (UH) qualified for the World Final of the International Programming Contest (ICPC) to be held in Egypt.
According to the state media Cubadebate, the Cubans obtained the pass “by solving 9 problems and occupying first place in the Caribbean region and 9th place in Latin America” during an event held this Saturday at the University of Computer Sciences where they participated 309 teams from various Latin American universities.
The regional podium was completed by the YesReturn teams from the University of Las Tunas with five problems solved and UH IOIn’t, also from the UH Faculty of Mathematics with four problems solved.
In the Latin American ranking, first place went to the Argentine team Una ma y no inchamo ma, from the University of Buenos Aires, which solved 12 problems. Second place went to the Brazilian team Lebenslangerschicksalsschatz, which solved 11 problems, and third place went to another Brazilian team, Humuhumunukunukuapua’a, which solved 11 problems.
The ICPC World Final will take place next November in Egypt and will bring together the best teams in the world in a competition that will test their skills in programming and problem solving, concluded the aforementioned state media.
