Students from the El-Elyon school complex immersed in the National Assembly

The parents’ association and the management of the El-Elyon school complex organized, this Friday, March 31, a guided tour of the students of this establishment at the National Assembly. The activity was part of the socio-educational initiatives dedicated to awakening students.


Under the leadership of Mr. Eyi Fortuné Gérard, Director General of Legislative Services, and Mrs. Jeannette Ndjena, Director of Parliamentary Committees at the National Assembly, the visit of these students qualified as Elites was marked by three main phases.

First the presentation of the institution in the hall, starting from its history, its composition, but above all its role as well as that of the deputies. So, the main missions of the deputies are to pass the law, consent to the tax, control the governmental action and evaluate the public policiesexplained Mr. Eyi Fortuné. Their mission is not to build the roads, the schools, the hospitals…he added to the students.

The second stage of the visit was the Indjedjet Ngondjout room, dedicated to meetings of the office of the National Assembly also called the Conference of Presidents, the decision-making body of the institution. A bureau composed of 15 members, including the President. It is in this room that the decisions of the Assembly are taken.

Then the salle Jonas Ovono Assoume, one of the largest halls. It is reserved for the work of internal committees. In this regard, Ms. Jeanette Ndjena did not fail to point out that there are eight committees dealing with parliamentary work, in particular, the Foreign Affairs Committees; Planning; finances ; environment, social affairs and many others. Hearings on government bills take place in this room, Ms. Ndjena said.



The third stage of the visit was the hemicycle which houses the work of the plenary session of the National Assembly. A room with a particular device according to which the deputies sit by parliamentary group during the plenary sessions which consist in passing laws and taking important decisions which commit the country.

The last stage of the visit was the meeting with the Honorable Awassi, the youngest deputy of this mandate. He explained how the institution works before listening to the young students during the question-answer phase. For Naomi, the meeting made it possible to get to know the National Assembly better, in particular the role of deputies. ” It makes me want to become an MP because I like the law she said.

For Mr. Adegnon Amega, the Director of the establishment, this activity is part of the vision of the school which aims for excellence. We want to encourage students to become better acquainted with the workings of institutions. We take this opportunity to thank the APE who initiated this activity, visibly appreciated by the students..

The El-Elyon school complex has the particularity of promoting Christian education in the school system. It is currently located on three sites, in particular Agondje (sherko), la peyrie and STFO.
