Students protest again against Sri Lankan President: Police allowed to go to any extent to control the protest

Colombo: There is tension in the capital city of Colombo as students have once again jumped into protest against the President of Sri Lanka. Following the economic crisis in Sri Lanka, people’s protests broke out and the government changed. The new President Ranil Wickremesinghe said that steps are being taken to fix the country’s economy. But he has given permission to the police and the army to go to any level to control the protest if it breaks out again.

In this case, the students who marched in violation of the ban in the capital Colombo tried to besiege the President and Prime Minister’s House. The police chased away the protesters who threw water and teargas shells.

The protestors demanded the release of 2 leaders of the student organization who were in jail for protesting against Gotabaya Rajapakse. They chanted, criticizing President Ranil as the protector of the Rajabase family.
