Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan commented that the students agitating for the reform of the quota system are violating the limits, I think the students should understand and know. When there is no judgment, then why is the movement? They also have to rush their relatives to different jobs, go to hospital, go to different places for jobs. How will the road be closed?

He said these things in response to a question at a press conference on the International Day against Drug Abuse and Trafficking at the Secretariat on Thursday (July 11).

The home minister said that the students should go to the court and say what they have to say. It is clearly stated beautifully. So I don’t think there is any need to trouble them from the streets after that. They are going towards what they wanted.

I would request the students not to crowd unnecessarily. They will leave their studies and people will suffer. This should also be in their heads’ – he said.

Asaduzzaman Kamal said that the government is always paying attention to their demands. Since the matter is in court, it will be settled by the court.

He said that the direction that came from the court, the students felt that they were being taken away from their thoughts. That’s why they came to the streets. We have told our security forces, especially the police, that we will listen to their demands. But there is a limit to listening. They are probably crossing them.

It has been several days but they (the agitating students) are doing the same thing. In the meantime, the Chief Justice has given an instruction. He clearly said that the direction given by the High Court is suspended. The ongoing case will be stayed pending the verdict. Therefore, the directive given by the High Court (upholding the quota) is impractical, it is not there now, the minister said.
