The University of Laval, in Quebec, in partnership with the University of Montpellier, is launching a study on hearing aids from the patient’s point of view. It is entitled “Impacts of professional services received during hearing aid fitting on adoption, use and satisfaction with hearing aids as well as on social participation and quality of life of adults with hearing loss”.

The objective of this study is multiple. First, the aim is to evaluate the adoption rate, use and satisfaction with hearing aids of people fitted with hearing aids in Quebec and France, and to compare the data for the two areas. Second objective: evaluate satisfaction with the services provided by hearing aid professionals, and identify the services that have an influence on the adoption rate, use or satisfaction. Finally, the study will evaluate the impact of the device on social life.

For this, the team of Professor Mathieu Hotton, Quebec researcher, with the audiologist François Bergeron, and that of Professor Frédéric Venail and Jean-Charles Ceccato, wrote a questionnaire (accessible ici until June 30) intended for people with hearing impairments, hearing aids or not, as well as people with normal hearing.
