“Alice” is a work that includes all the elements that characterize “Momix” and takes the audience on a sensual journey into Pendleton’s surreal world that combines humor and stretches the boundaries of movement.

During the piece that combines a mix of dance, illusion art, acrobatics, magic, Alice meets the characters we all know – the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts, the White Rabbit and many more surprises. “I have no intention of retelling the story, but using it as a springboard for imagination,” says director Moses Pendleton.

The nine members of the troupe are known for their virtuosity and for good reason are called dancers-illusion artists, portraying countless characters, which require skill in ballet and contemporary dance techniques, acrobatics, puppetry, control of challenging props and costumes, and acting talent.

Each scene in the show can stand on its own, with the connection and transitions between them emphasizing the contrast between the energetic, stormy and breath-taking sections and the quieter, more collected sections. The projections that accompany the choreography come and go, providing the dancers with a fluid cinematic framework as one scene blends into the next through well-timed screen movements that capture the projected images.

Moses Pendleton is one of the most popular and innovative choreographers and directors in the USA in the last 40 years. In 1971 he served as one of the founders of the groundbreaking Philobolus dance theater, and in 1980 he founded MOMIX. He often works in film, television and opera and creates choreographies for ballet companies and special events. He also made music videos for Prince, Julian Lennon, Kathy Dennis and more.

In addition to its international concert tours, the band appears in film and television, and recently at the 67th Golden Globe Awards ceremony.
