This time Daichi Kamada didn’t miss the second chance to make it 1-0. Kolo Muani made it better with his header to make it 2:1 (58th). Piero Hincapie had scored for Bayer two minutes earlier. In a balanced game in Wolfsburg, the resurgent Marcus Thuram (13th/48th) gave Gladbach twice the lead. Yannick Gerhardt (43rd) and Omar Marmoush (69th) each equalized for VfL.

The strong counterattackers from Mainz played very bravely against the surprise team Bremen and were rewarded with goals from Marcus Ingvartsen (36th) and Jae-Sung Lee (66th). (dpa)
