jpnn.comJAKARTA – Indonesian U-23 National Team coach Shin Tae-yong conveyed a special request to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) ahead of facing Iraq in the match for third place in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup, Thursday (2/5) tomorrow.

He asked the AFC to implement an attitude of mutual respect between Asian teams, and to apply a neutral attitude to all remaining teams participating in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup.

Indonesia was defeated by Uzbekistan with a score of 0-2 in the semifinal match which took place last Monday (29/4).

The match was marked by several detrimental decisions from referee Shen Yinhao and VAR referee Sivakorn Pu-udom, which resulted in Muhammad Ferarri’s goal being disallowed and captain Rizky Ridho being red carded.

This defeat means that Indonesia will compete against Iraq in the match for third place, Thursday (2/5) tomorrow.

“I have no intention of psywaring the AFC, including putting pressure on them. “I want them to develop, and all the players and the level of play in the AFC to develop, that’s what I hope for,” said Shin at the pre-match press conference as monitored from Jakarta via live broadcast.

“I just want everyone to respect each other, players and referees must respect each other, referees must also respect the coach, and vice versa. “If that happens, nothing bad will happen in a match,” he added.

Shin then reminded that with the large stakes in tomorrow’s match, namely tickets to the 2024 Paris Olympics, the enthusiasm factor will be one of the keys to getting positive results.
