The striker was injured in the 56th minute of Sunday night’s 2-0 win over Sevilla and was seen on the Catalans’ bench with tears in his eyes. On Monday, Barcelona only announced that Suárez suffered a muscle injury in his right thigh.
According to the newspaper “Sport”, around a month will be lost and can only be used in the second phase of the Copa America in the USA. Suárez has scored 59 competitive goals for Barça this season. He scored 40 goals in the league alone, making him top scorer ahead of superstar Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.
Uruguay start their South American championship, which is being held in the USA this year to mark its 100th anniversary, by playing Mexico on 5 June.
