DIG/ Financial markets have become an alternative for African governments to raise more resources to finance their development projects.

Since the issuance of public securities on the sub-regional financial market, Gabon has already collected nearly 6,500 billion francs.

For the year 2024, the country hopes to mobilize 850 billion francs on the sub-regional financial market.

“These markets supported the State for more than 6,500 billion FCFA.

This year, we presented a budget with two big points: investment and spending.

This will involve supporting the development of economic activity, through the relaunch of numerous suspended investment projects; diversification of the economy; the optimization of revenues, with the broadening of the tax base”, explained Minister Charles Mba.

As a reminder, as part of its policy of mobilizing financial resources, the transitional government has initiated a series of strategic meetings aimed at promoting the issuance of public securities.

Jointly supervised by the Ministries of Economy and Participation, as well as that of Budget and Public Accounts, this promotional tour which began in Libreville, continued in Douala before ending in Brazzaville.

This roadshow is a privileged platform which allowed Luther Steeven Abouna Yangui, Director General of Public Accounting and Treasury, as well as his counterpart from the General Directorate of Debt, Jean Gaspard Ntoutoume Ayi, to exhibit to a wide range of investors, the programming of public securities issues planned for the year 2024.

The objective of these meetings has a double interest: on the one hand, to diversify the investor base and on the other hand, to ensure the success of fundraising throughout the current year.

The fruitful discussions carried out with specialists in Treasury securities highlighted the reputation and financial solidity that the Gabonese Republic has built on the eponymous markets. These experts, who notably expressed renewed support for the financial strategy of the Gabonese State, also demonstrated their desire to intensify their efforts, in order to support the country in its rise to financial power.
