Bought second hand computer by adding money
By saving little money, Shahina studied computer. The father also borrowed some money from here and there and got a second hand computer for Shahina. Along with this, Shahina also completed her graduation from Mumbai University with good marks and then did a course in Visual Communication and Design from NIIT. From here Shahina’s luck started changing.
Started making projects from school time itself
Shahina tells that she has faced poverty and many struggles since childhood. Despite this he kept his creativity alive. She used to design various types of products since school time. Later, doing a professional course in designing gave a new direction to his creativity. The advantage of this was that he got a chance to participate in a car expo in Mumbai. Also, during the launch of Zoomcar in Bengaluru, the design of the scooter made by him got preference. One model of Scooty has become his identity in Bengaluru. Apart from this, he played important responsibilities of product designing and research in dozens of renowned companies like Shaadi.com, Book My Show, Winzo, Instacred and Stylenook.
When I got the offer from Microsoft
Shahina told that she got real success when she got an offer from Microsoft company in 2021. She is working there as Senior Research and Product Designing Manager. She is associated with many projects of Microsoft. His journey from living on the sidewalk to reaching Microsoft’s office is inspiring thousands of people to move forward.
Bought a big house for parents
About 30 years ago, Shahina’s father Yunus Atrawala, who came to Mumbai from UP to earn his living, lived in the same Dargah street of Bandra. Shahina has bought a house and given it to her parents. She often mentions this on her social media platform. Shahina’s hut in which she once lived is also seen in Netflix’s ‘Bad Boy Billionaires-India’, based on slum life.
Gives guest lectures in educational institutions
Shahina, who studied law from United Nations and International Law, has been honored with many awards including Unsung Heroes by India Today Group. Shahina gives guest lectures on product designing to students in many educational institutions including NIIT, IIM, NMIMS. She also runs a foundation, through which she works for those slum girls who are still away from education and technology. Shahina guides the operators of a dozen NGOs. She gives powerful speeches in the country and abroad on gender inequality and sexual harassment.
‘Yunus Perfume’ named after father
Shahina visits her village in UP once a year, so that she remains connected to the rural culture. He has opened a school for needy children in the village. Here, computer and technology education is mandatory for children. Apart from this, she is also providing self-employment to working women and girls by starting ‘Yunus Perfume’ in the name of her father Yunus Atrawala.
