Chittam Sudhir hails from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. He is known for his cheap and healthy millet idlis. These are wrapped in special leaves and steamed. His Vasana Poli stall in MVP Colony, Visakhapatnam is famous. Every day, as early as 6.30 am, the stall is crowded with customers. Chittam sells idlis made from eight types of nutritious millets.

Work started with just 50 thousand rupees

Chittam Sudheer started his stall in 2018 with an investment of Rs 50,000. Today, he buys about 700 kg of millet every month from tribal farmers of Srikakulam, Vijayanagaram and Visakhapatnam. He also helps them financially by paying them more than the market price. This shows his efforts to promote indigenous products and empower farmers. Chittam Sudheer earns around Rs 7.5 lakh a month by selling millet idlis.

Idlis are made in a special way

Sudhir’s idlis are special because they are steamed in vistaraku leaves. These leaves are known for their health benefits. They have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. These idlis are made from eight different types of millet combinations. People like to eat them with chutney made from vegetables like gourd, ginger and carrot.

Chittam Sudhir faced many challenges in the beginning. His own family was skeptical. But, Sudhir did not back down and his hard work paid off. His stall named Vasana Poli is very famous today.
