New Delhi: The story of Amardeep Kumar, a resident of Bihar, is no less than a film. Amardeep, who once used to earn Rs 7 a day, has built a business of Rs 3 crore with hard work and dedication. Amardeep, who runs an incense stick factory in Samastipur, spent his childhood in poverty. Today he is a successful entrepreneur. Let us know about Amardeep Kumar’s journey to success here.

I used to get 7 rupees daily in a restaurant

Amardeep was born in a poor family in Bihar. He faced financial difficulties since childhood. He used to work from morning to evening in a local restaurant, where he used to get only Rs 7 per day. This meager amount was not enough for him and his family. He did many jobs in the restaurant, from waiter to washing dishes. Despite this struggle, he dreamed of getting an education. But, financial difficulties kept him tied to the restaurant.

Continued studies along with work

While working in a restaurant from 1989 to 1996, Amardeep not only passed his matriculation exams but also taught tuitions to other children. His ambition took him first to Patna and then to Delhi where he aimed to join the civil services. It is another matter that he did not succeed in this.

A desire to do something for the society arose

The quest for knowledge led Amardeep to many places including private companies in South Korea and Thailand as well as academic pursuits in Bangalore. Working in the corporate world in Bangalore was not fulfilling for him. Inspired by local social workers, he developed a strong desire to help the underprivileged. Despite earning a good salary, he continued to feel a sense of incompleteness.

Returned back and started an incense stick factory

Amardeep’s wife Dr. Hemlata Singh, a PhD in Biochemistry, encouraged him to return to Bihar and serve his community. He returned to his roots in Rampur Samthu. Here he laid the foundation of an NGO. In the year 2019, Amardeep founded ‘Morang Desh Ventures Private Limited’ with a small investment of Rs 6 lakh. The company makes various types of incense sticks. His business now employs more than 100 local workers. Its annual turnover is Rs 3 crore. Amardeep’s company promotes environmental protection by using waste flowers from temples. Amardeep’s story is an inspiration for those who give up on circumstances. His story tells that anything is possible with strong will and hard work.
