Idea of three friends
Hood was conceived by a trio of friends in 2021. Their names are Jasvir Singh, Abhishek Asthana and Deepak Kumar. Co-founder and CEO Jasvir Singh initially came up with the idea for Hood while working at DotReview. He envisioned a platform where founders could gather information about investors anonymously to avoid any negative impact on funding. This concept eventually turned into a hood. Abhishek Asthana and Deepak Kumar also joined Jasvir Singh as co-founders.

In addition to providing a platform for uncensored expression, Hood focuses on the formation of diverse interest groups. This platform includes groups from many segments. These include Salary Comparison, Job Opportunities, Current Affairs, Mental Health and many such groups. This feature enables users with similar interests to connect and share their feelings freely.
The judges gave a lot of praise in Shark Tank India
Hood gained immense popularity after his appearance in the second season of the reality show Shark Tank India. Despite facing initial criticism from sharks for his ambitious Rs 600 crore valuation, the co-founders stood firm. Eventually he secured a deal with boAt co-founder Aman Gupta and Lenskart co-founder Piyush Bansal.

Till now Hood has registered more than 1M downloads on Google Play Store. This shows a clear demand for platforms that support open discussion. Of course, anonymity can encourage open discussion. But, it also presents a risk of online harassment. To mitigate this concern, Hood has partnered with Ikigai Law to enforce stricter laws and policies. The company is also working on responsible implementation of technology to create a safe and respectful environment for its users.
