New Delhi: Ruchi Kalra and her husband Ashish Mahapatra have set an example in the country. The couple has set up two companies together. Both these companies have achieved the status of ‘unicorn’ today. The total value of both the companies is more than Rs 52,000 crore. The story is no less than a film
The success of Ruchi and Ashish is no less than a film story. Both of them have achieved a position with their hard work and dedication, which everyone aspires for. But, their success did not come overnight. Both of them had to struggle a lot in their early days. Ruchi Kalra completed her studies from IIT Delhi. After that she did MBA from Indian School of Business. After completing her studies, Ruchi worked in a big company like McKinsey for eight years. In the year 2015, she started ‘OffBusiness’ along with her husband Ashish Mahapatra. This is a B2B platform, where raw materials, industrial goods etc. are sold. Today the value of this company is Rs 44,000 crore.
Oxygo launched in 2017
Ruchi is also the CEO of ‘Oxyzo Financial Services’. Oxyzo is actually a branch of OfBusiness which works to give loans. Recently, Oxyzo has received an investment of $200 million at a value of Rs 8200 crore (1 billion dollars). Oxyzo was started in 2017. This company provides financial help to those who buy goods through OfBusiness. Ruchi and Ashish believe that profit can be made from every transaction.
The revenue of offbusiness is in crores
The total revenue of OfBusiness in 2021 was Rs 197.53 crore, which increased to Rs 312.97 crore the very next year. The profit of the company in 2021-22 was Rs 60.34 crore, which was Rs 39.94 crore in the previous year. The total assets of OfBusiness in the financial year 2021-22 were around Rs 7,269 crore and the profit after tax of the company was Rs 125.63 crore.
The idea was rejected 73 times
During an interview in 2016, Ruchi had told that initially 73 investors rejected her idea calling it useless. However, she needed only one investor to start her company. The rest is now history. Today the total value of both the companies of Ruchi and Ashish is Rs 52,000 crore. In 2022, Ruchi’s net worth was around Rs 2600 crore.
