NIJMEGEN – The new round of injections against corona is running as expected, according to the GGD Gelderland South. The booster campaign, which started last Monday, is aimed at individuals aged sixty and over, as well as those who are more likely to become seriously ill from corona. This includes healthcare workers, pregnant women, and individuals who are also eligible for a flu shot.
A spokesperson for the GGD Gelderland Zuid stated, “People aged 60+ receive an invitation every week, so registering people is still an ongoing process. New appointments are added every day.” The available capacity is expected to be filled in the coming weeks.
The objective of the new round of vaccinations is to stay ahead of the virus, as explained by Alma Tostmann, an epidemiologist at Radboud University Medical Center.
