Businessman Rajendran (Sarathkumar) has 3 sons. The eldest son Jai (Megha Srikanth) and the middle son Ajay (Sham) are puppets who listen to their father and take care of business. The last son, Vijay (Vijay), wants to advance on his own merits. Dad doesn’t like it and leaves home. Situation to return home after 7 years. What does Vijay do to fix the family’s business empire and family problems that are collapsing due to father’s business nemesis Jayaprakash (Prakash Raj), does Vijay deserve to be Rajendran’s business successor or not? is the story.

It is a familiar story. Director Vamsi has succeeded in inserting it into the joint family of a big businessman, making it sentimental as mother-father-brother-sister-in-law and their children, thereby giving a family epic that expresses the bond between business and family in a deep and compelling way.

In mass hero films, supporting characters are often used to highlight the hero’s skills. Even in this, the word ‘template’ remains. Beyond that, one can appreciate the director’s characterization approach by writing individual problems, downfalls and ups and downs for the main supporting characters. At the same time, the hero-heroine romance and songs could have been avoided in the script.

Illegal mining destroys the soul of the environment. To protect his father’s business, which is the source of water, Vijay struggles to exploit it again by auctioning it. Coming as a young man fighting against water exploitation in films like ‘Kathi’, how Vijay accepted this contradiction is a revelation.

There are many logical errors in the screenplay, including the fact that the son takes a loan of Rs 400 crore and secretly runs a business project that he rejected, and that the powerful father does not know that another son is in a relationship with another woman.

Vijay carries the entire film as an unforgettable ‘entertainer’. His spoof comedy performance and his association with Yogi Babu are making fans excited. Although Rashmika has less scenes, she does not fail to show off her impressive looks, dancing and acting skills.

Sarathkumar as a successful businessman and Jayasudha as his wife who gives up her dreams for the sake of her family have given compelling performances.

Prakash Raj, who comes as the villain, passes off as a typical corporate antagonist. Composed by Thaman, the songs are sweet and a dance treat for Vijay fans. Dilip Subbarayan-Peter Hayne’s fight scenes are a huge food for the appetite of mass fans.

The majesty of ‘Varisu’ would have been more if the director who wrote the hero who wants to stand on his own feet and start a business as a contemporary reflection, also wrote the internal relationship problems and conflicts in a business family as a contemporary reflection.
