Vatican City: Pope Francis has dismissed rumors that he will resign as head of the Christian community. The Pope recently appeared in public in a wheelchair due to knee pain. He had also canceled some foreign trips at the last minute. With this, there were rumors that the Pope would resign due to ill health. This is the first time that Pope Francis has expressed his response in this regard.
In an interview with the international news agency Reuters, Pope Francis clarified that these rumors are false. He also denied reports that he was suffering from cancer. ‘I have not yet thought about resigning the Pope’s position. He may resign when his health deteriorates to the extent that he is unable to perform his duties. But so far no such idea has come to mind.’ The Pope stated that his health is improving and the small fracture in his knee is healing.
