The Sudanese authorities have decided to tighten restrictions on the movement of Sudanese heading to the Libyan border, in an attempt to limit the influx of large numbers of refugees fleeing the war in Darfur, especially the city of El Fasher.

According to Darfur 24, travel from conflict zones to the border triangle between Sudan, Libya and Egypt is prohibited.

The border triangle is the main crossing for thousands of Sudanese seeking asylum in Libya to escape the ongoing war between the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudanese army.

The Sudanese authorities also circulated to all concerned parties to stop organizing refugee trips to Libya, warning of legal accountability for anyone who violates this decision.

As a result of the ongoing war, the city of Kufra receives about 1,500 Sudanese refugees daily, according to what the mayor of Kufra told Libya Al-Ahrar, indicating that the number of Sudanese refugee families has reached about 10,000 families.

Abdullah stressed that the health situation in the city is witnessing an increasing deterioration, as many diseases have begun to appear among the refugees as a result of the difficult environmental and humanitarian conditions, noting that the municipality is in dire need of support, especially in the health sector, but the response from international and local bodies has been very weak, according to him.
