Sudanese Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok resigns

by time news

Khartoum: Sudanese Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok has resigned as people take to the streets to protest the sharing of power with the coup forces. Before resigning, he told the people that Sudan was going through a situation where even survival was in danger. Every effort was made to prevent the country from slipping into ruin. He said he could not succeed.

The military overthrew the Hamdock-led government last October. Leaders, including Hamdock, were placed under house arrest. But in November, Hamdock returned to the PM’s post with a 14 – conditional agreement with the military. There are indications that the current resignation comes as the military seizes power.

Tens of thousands of people gathered in Khartoum to protest against the agreement reached between Hamdo and his army and to demand full democracy. Two people were killed during a military operation against protesters.
