The title of Sri Lankan beauty has been revoked following a complaint regarding her eligibility.

On April 6, 2021, at the Miss Sri Lanka pageant in Colombo, Pushpika de Silva was in the headlines following her coronation as Mrs. Sri Lanka. But while on stage her crown was snatched away by a previous winner, Carolyn, who had complained that she had won unjustly. This year’s Miss World pageant was held in Las Vegas, USA, with only married women competing. The American Shailene board was crowned in this match.

In her social media posts, Pushpika de Silva accused De Silva of failing to win the Ms World competition in Las Vegas last month due to undue influence by the referees and reducing the chances of some of her own team winning the title. Pushpika de Silva alleged on social media that she did not win the match because the referees acted improperly.

In this case, Pushpika de Silva’s Sri Lankan title has been revoked and she has been banned from using it for any promotional activities. De Silva said she was legally married but separated from her husband. But the organizers of the competition said that Pushpika de Silva’s Sri Lankan title has been taken away, saying that de Silva is divorced and she is not eligible for the title.

The Sri Lankan tournament organizer said in a statement that his comments would tarnish Sri Lanka’s image globally. Following this, Pushpika de Silva has been deprived of the title of Mrs. Sri Lanka. He was banned from using his title for advertising. Caroline Julie snatched her crown from the stage when Pushpika de Silva had already won the Ms Sri Lanka title. In this situation Mrs. Sri Lanka has been stripped of her title again.
