An eight-month pregnant woman and her husband, who were traveling in the car, tragically lost their lives when an Otum car caught fire near Kannur in Kerala.
Prajith (32) hails from Kuttiathur Kararam area of Kannur district, Kerala. His wife is Risha (26). Prajit is working as a building contractor. Prajit-Reesha couple have an 8-year-old daughter and Reesha is currently eight months pregnant.
Meanwhile, eight-month pregnant wife Nisha was taken to Kannur District Hospital from her house in Gudiyathur due to abdominal pain. At that time, Prajith drove his wife Nisha in the front seat. Their eight-year-old daughter, Nisha’s father and mother, and Prajeet’s mother were sitting in the back seat of the car.
As the car approaches the Kannur hospital, it unexpectedly catches fire. Seeing the fire, Prajit stopped the car and asked the four people behind to get out. As the four of them got out, the car quickly caught fire and the two side doors of Afrajit and Reesha were locked so they could not be opened.
As both of them struggled to get out of the car, the pregnant wife and Afrajit, who were trapped inside the car due to the fire that spread throughout the car, were charred to death on the spot.
After receiving the information, the Kannur police went to the spot and registered a case and started investigation. The preliminary investigation revealed that the accident occurred due to a short circuit problem. The incident of parents, in front of their child, burnt to death in the fire, has caused great sadness in the area.
