Thiruvananthapuram ∙ The Congress has persuaded the Muslim League, which was hit by KPCC president K. Sudhakaran’s ‘RSS statements’. K. Sudhakaran directly called himself and PK Kunjalikutty of Panakkad Sadikhali Shihab. Leader of the opposition V.D.Sathisan and Ramesh Chennithala started rescue operations. Meanwhile, there was a campaign that Sudhakaran expressed his willingness to resign, but Sudhakaran issued a press release denying it.

VD Satheesan also denied the matter. The KPCC leadership meeting scheduled to be held in Kochi today has been postponed due to controversy. A section of the Congress has started preparations in Kerala and Delhi against the re-announcement of Sudhakaran as KPCC president.

The Congress stepped up its persuasion move after the Muslim League signaled that it would take a public stand against two speeches that contained references to the protection of the RSS branch and Nehru’s collusion with communal fascists. Sudhakaran explained the matter to himself and Kunhalikutty on the basis of suggestions by AICC general secretaries KC Venugopal and Tariq Anwar. He clarified that the unexpected word came in and it was not what was meant to be said. The League leadership meeting held at Panakkat also came to the conclusion that it is not appropriate to spread the impression of hostility towards the KPCC president on account of tongue-lashing.

Leader of the Opposition Satheesan assured the League leadership that Sudhakaran has no intention to novate the League or dilute the secular stance of the Congress. The league also took into account Chennithala’s opinion that it was not good for the UDF to continue the controversy even after publicly admitting the fallout.

The news of Sudhakaran’s resignation was spread in some channels before the league meeting. A letter was also circulated to Rahul Gandhi. Sudhakaran denied this and said that he would investigate from which center this campaign came from. The campaign infuriated Satheesan who also wrote in the letter that the leader of the opposition was not supporting him. Satheesan openly said that the letter and its contents are false.

Explanation asked, got, satisfied
