jpnn.comJAKARTA – Senior artist Sudjiwo Tejo criticized Harvey Moeis’ 6.5 year prison sentence for corruption in the management of the tin trade worth IDR 300 trillion.

Through an upload on his Instagram account, Sudjiwo Tejo assessed that the verdict was not commensurate with the state losses which reached hundreds of trillions.

“300T corruption is only punishable by 6.5 years in prison and your people are confused?” wrote Sudjiwo Tejo, Friday (27/12).

Sudjiwo Tejo then linked the decision to the policy of increasing Value Added Tax (VAT) to 12 percent which will take effect in January 2025.

The Mangkujiwo film actor said that the verdict was “fair” if calculated based on the VAT percentage.

He even stated mathematically that the ideal sentence should be 45.17 years in prison, but only 12 percent of that amount was taken.

“The sentence is fair: 45.17 years in prison, but only 12 percent was taken because it was consistent with VAT. So 6.5 years in prison,” he wrote in a sarcastic tone.

It didn’t stop there, Sudjiwo also criticized the government which he considered more focused on the policy of collecting taxes from the people rather than eradicating corruption.

Sudjiwo Tejo criticized Harvey Moeis’ sentence of only 6.5 years in prison and touched on the 12% VAT increase.
