Suez Canal achieves a huge leap in revenues for the current fiscal year!

The Suez Canal Economic Zone’s revenues for the fiscal year 2023-2024 amounted to EGP 8.245 billion, 72% of which were denominated in dollars.

According to the Youm7 website, Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, reviewed the results of the fiscal year and developments related to the economic zone during his meeting with Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.

Gamal El-Din explained, “The revenues include the ports of Sokhna, East and West Port Said, Adabiya, Arish, and El-Tor, in addition to usufruct rights, investments, and desalination plants.”

He pointed out that “revenues jumped to about 8.5 billion pounds by the end of the last fiscal year, compared to 2.76 billion pounds in 2016-2017, an increase of 205%.”

He added, “Contracts in industrial zones amounted to $5.116 billion for 218 projects, of which 98 projects at a cost of $2.225 billion received final approval, while 120 projects at a cost of $2.891 billion received initial approval.”

He pointed out that “port projects within the economic zone amounted to 7 projects at a cost of $1.359 billion during the last fiscal year.”
