Actor Ponda Mani has recently recovered from a health problem after battling for his life in a government hospital.
In this case, following the news in the media that the film industry did not see him at all, the actor Myilsamy came looking for.
Ponda Mani says he went to the government hospital after 32 years. Actor Vivek’s friend ‘Cell’ Murugan first came to the hospital and met Ponda Mani. He did a lot of help, from talking to doctors to giving money.
“It simply came to our notice then that I still have people who still love me. I soon recovered from that joy.
“Everyone in Vadivelu’s group, including me, had a hard time without a job during his absence. Even though everyone knew it, no one did any help. Now it has become clear that anyone can act in cinema if they have the money. Previously there was respect for actors in cinema. Not so now. Survival happens to some people like us because of the logo screen.
“It simply came to our notice then. All the protagonists should look back at us. We need the opportunity to last on screen.
“When the news broke in the media that no one was helping me, the actor Mylasamy came running and advised me not to say anything like that and gave me the money. After that Director P. Vasu, actors Sathyaraj and Sarathkumar also provided financial assistance.
“I have seen Cell Murugan with wisdom. But he was not expected to come looking and lend a hand.
“Rajini and Vijay’s aides called and inquired about his health. Ajith likes me very much. I have acted in six films with him. It would be helpful if all of these people were given the opportunity.
During a recent shoot I was filmed as falling into the sewer. But, the stage could not be set for that. When the film crew wondered what to do I said I was falling into the real sewer that was there. But it took a long time to finish taking the scene. That night started with mild suffocation and then the condition worsened. That’s why I got treatment, ”says Ponda Mani.
