Recently, a social media challenge involving BTS’s international fanbase cheering for Suga using the hashtag ‘#SugaChallenge’ went viral. However, the challenge has sparked controversy, with concerns over Suga’s intoxication and reckless behavior.
The challenge encourages fans to film themselves driving while holding and consuming alcohol. Some participants have shared photos and videos of themselves driving under the influence, sparking serious safety concerns.
Suga’s recent controversy stems from his intoxicated ride on an electric scooter. Police reports reveal that Suga’s blood alcohol content (BAC) was 0.227%, exceeding the legal limit. He faces potential penalties, including a prison sentence of 2-5 years and a fine of 10-20 million won.
Suga has issued an apology through Weverse, acknowledging his violation of traffic laws and expressing remorse for the incident. He claimed he underestimated the distance and rode the scooter while intoxicated.
The controversy has reignited debates about the responsibility of celebrities and their influence on fans. Some fans suspect the challenge was orchestrated by anti-BTS groups to tarnish Suga’s reputation.
Suga is currently working as a social service worker.
Meanwhile, some ARMY members urge fans to be wary of potential manipulation and claim the challenge is a deliberate attempt to mock BTS.
