A Sweet Reunion: Sugar Announces New Music and Extensive Tour
The band, featuring Bob Mould, David Barbe, and Malcolm Travis, is bringing their signature sound to stages worldwide.
- Sugar released their new song, “Long Live Love,” following the announcement of their return last year.
- The band will embark on a tour beginning in May, with dates across North America and Europe.
- Bob Mould wrote “Long Live Love” in 2007 while living in Washington D.C., drawing inspiration from his DJ work and a fondness for Garbage’s Garbage 2.0 album.
- Sugar’s critically acclaimed album, Copper Blue, remains a cornerstone of 90s alternative rock.
“I wrote ‘Long Live Love’ in 2007 while living in Washington DC,” Mould said in a statement. “It was the George W. Bush era, I was deep in my DJ world with Blowoff, yet still writing pop songs on guitars. Garbage 2.0 is one of my desert island albums, so it’s not surprising that ‘Long Live Love’ reminds me of a long lost Garbage song!”
What was the inspiration behind Sugar’s new song, “Long Live Love”? Bob Mould penned the track in 2007 while residing in Washington D.C., influenced by his involvement in the DJ scene with Blowoff and a deep appreciation for Garbage’s album, Garbage 2.0.
Sugar’s 1992 album, Copper Blue, is widely considered a landmark release of the alternative rock era.
