Suicide attempt; Actor Vijayakumar acquitted

Kochi: Actor Vijayakumar acquitted in suicide attempt case. The trial court acquitted the actor on the basis of lack of sufficient evidence in the case of attempted suicide by cutting his left wrist. The case was that Vijayakumar tried to commit suicide while being interrogated at Thrikkakara Assistant Commissioner’s office.

According to the police report, the actor took a knife used to cut paper and tried to cut the vein. However, the prosecution failed to produce any evidence to establish that Vijayakumar had committed the crime. The statements of 2 witnesses other than the police officers in the case were also in favor of Vijayakumar.

The magistrate court also pointed out that the statements of the independent witness produced by the prosecution as an eye witness were not credible. The incident related to the case against Vijayakumar was in 2009. The actor was summoned for questioning in the case of 25 lakhs by sprinkling chilli powder in the eyes of a biker in Kalamaseri. The complaint was that the money was stolen with the help of paravurulla goons.
