A “suicide capsule” offering painless death within 10 minutes of administration is set to be used for the first time soon.
This was reported by the LADbible portal.
Sarco is a 3D-printed capsule that has been called the “Tesla of euthanasia.” Despite its technological advances, its creators have been accused of “glamorizing” suicide and could face serious legal trouble.
Known as “Dr. Death,” Dr. Philipp Nitschke said the first patient had begun using the Sarco capsule in Switzerland. He also noted that the capsule could be delivered anywhere in the world: “It could be an idyllic outdoor location or the premises of an organization that provides assistance in suicide.”
Swiss media reported that the Sarco capsule was ready for use, but state prosecutor Peter Sticher warned that anyone who helps a patient use such capsules could be sentenced to up to five years in prison.
According to Dr. Philipp Nitschke, founder of Exit International, the Sarco capsule works by filling the chamber with nitrogen, which quickly reduces oxygen levels to the point where the person loses consciousness almost instantly. This process begins within the first minute, and within 10 minutes, a “peaceful, safe, drug-free” death occurs.
The Exit International team says Sarco capsules can be activated using voice control or eye movements, making them accessible to those with serious illnesses and mobility limitations who cannot communicate verbally.
Sarco modules, which are activated by a button, blinking or gesture, also feature an emergency button and provide an escape route if the user changes their mind.
“There is no reliable information about the method of killing. It is completely unclear who controls some mechanical process during the dying process,” Sticher said.
Swiss law, including Article 115 of the Criminal Code, permits assisted suicide, provided that the motivation is not personal gain or selfishness.
Strangely fascinated by this capsule for unassisted euthanasia administration developed by Philip Nitschke and Alexander Bannink: «Stylishly assisted suicide. It’s hip. It’s here». pic.twitter.com/yrYTtctCuH

Earlier, “Kursor” wrote that British millionaire David Thomas Blythe killed his own wife, Czech singer and TV star Victoria Vera. Their three minor children were present at the time of the incident. The verbal conflict ended tragically: during the quarrel, he pulled out a gun and used it against Victoria, after which he committed suicide.
