Khaled Mahmud Sujan
BCB director Khaled Mahmud Sujan also appeared in Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) yesterday. He resigned from that post today. BCB CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury confirmed the news of his resignation to RisingBD.
Khaled Mahmood did not respond when contacted. However, the CEO said that Khaled Mahmood sent his resignation letter to BCB on Wednesday (September 11) afternoon. The former captain of the national team resigned from the post of director citing personal reasons.
Earlier, another former captain of the national team Naimur Rahman Durjoy resigned from the post of director. After Jalal Yunus, Nazmul Hasan Papon and Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel, two former captains resigned as directors.
Like Nazmul Hasan Papon, Sujan was a director on the board for three terms. In addition to the directorship, he was the chairman of BCB’s game development department, vice chairman of cricket operations department and a member of the umpires committee.
His work style was controversial. He also coached in DPL and BPL as a director. He was also the manager of the national team. Besides, he also coached in an academy in Rajshahi.
While working in the game development department, he won the Bangladesh Youth World Cup title. There were also reports of conflicts with the coaches while working in the national team. However, he has repeatedly denied the allegations in the media.
Although not active in politics, Khaled Mahmood was close to former president Nazmul Hasan. There is also an allegation against him of receiving extra benefits for being an Abahani coach. All in all, he was a controversial figure on Nazmul Hasan Papon’s board. Sujan resigned from all positions due to various complications.
