jpnn.com – YOGYAKARTA – Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono (HB) X reminded members of the DIY DPRD for the 2024-2029 period regarding their duties and responsibilities as people’s representatives.
According to him, council members should not prioritize political interests or personal interests.
People’s representatives must prioritize public interests.
“What needs to be underlined is that no matter how big the interests of your political party are, you should put public interests above personal or group interests,” said Sultan HB X.
He said this at the inauguration of 55 members of the DIY DPRD for the 2024-2029 period at the DIY DPRD Building, Yogyakarta, Monday (2/9).
The Sultan also said that council members must have broad competence and knowledge to support legislative, oversight and budget functions effectively and efficiently.
“The figure or profile of the council members must have excellent competence, namely having broad knowledge, reliable skills related to the substance of the DPRD’s field of duties that are their responsibility,” he said.
The Sultan hopes that legislative members, as extensions of the community, can prioritize the interests of the community in every stage of budget planning.
DIY Governor HB X reminded the new council members not to prioritize political party interests and personal interests.
