The press secretary of the President, Erbol Sultanbaev, gave an explanation about the 84 kg of gold seized during illegal transportation to Kyrgyzstan.

According to his words, the president signed a decree banning the export of ore and concentrates containing gold from Kyrgyzstan from May 1. However, the decree was extended until December 31 before the construction of the plant that operated it was completed.
On April 17, the State Committee on National Security (SNC) reported that about 84 kg of illegally transported gold was seized at the “Ak-Jol” checkpoint on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border. The institution reported that gold valued at more than 300 million soms was being taken to one of the largest gold mining companies in Chui region. However, the name of the company was not announced.
