Summary between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance: Teachers who returned from dance and went into isolation

by time news

The Minister of Education, Dr. Yifat Shasha Bitton, agreed today (Monday) with the Commissioner for Wages at the Ministry of Finance, Kobi Bar-Natan, that teachers who have returned from abroad and entered solitary confinement will be able to receive wages for these days. These teachers will be able to complete school hours on their days off.

Completion of hours refers to teaching staff who have returned from orange and red countries and entered isolation on the following dates:
• Orange countries: stay in isolation on 07.12.2021 – 09.12.2021
• Red countries: stay in isolation on 07.12.2021 – 14.12.2021

Completion of their hours will be done in coordination with the school principal or the competent body owned and with the consent of the teaching staff, until 04.03.2022. An employee who does not complete the hours for the isolation period, these hours will be considered as unpaid absence.

According to the Economic Assistance Program (New Corona Virus) Law of 2020, an employee returning from a private trip from another country outside Israel is not entitled to isolation benefits or sick pay for the days he could not perform his work due to being in isolation. In the case of a teaching employee, he cannot teach remotely during the days of isolation. As stated, following the Minister of Education’s move on the issue, the procedure has changed. However, it will be clarified that a teaching employee who has returned from abroad for isolation will not be able to perform work from home and order remotely from home.

A teaching employee who has returned from abroad, like any citizen, will be placed in solitary confinement for 3 or 7 days, depending on the country from which he returned and subject to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health.
