The Summer Sound 2026 festival opened its gates to attendees on Friday, July 31, at the Liepāja beach. The two-day event features over 60 artists across four stages and a dedicated dance zone, blending international stars with local Latvian talent in what is described as the Baltics’ largest beach party.
The arrival of the crowd began well before the official 4:00 p.m. opening on Friday. While the festival grounds remained relatively quiet around 4:00 p.m., the first performers, the group Voiceks Voiska, took to one of the stages to kick off the festivities. The event marks the 14th year of the festival’s presence on the Liepāja beach, maintaining its reputation for a free atmosphere and a wide array of musical genres.
Friday’s Main Stage Lineup and Headliners
The evening program on the Main Stage opened with the local group Very Cool People, performing alongside rapper Ozols and Žorža Siksna. This opening set was followed by a specialized event known as The Big Bad Hit Show

The energy shifted later in the evening as the rap collective Singapūras satīns took the stage. The Friday night festivities concluded with a performance by the globally recognized Norwegian producer and DJ Alan Walker.
International Talent and the ‘Klubs++’ Zone
Beyond the main stage, the festival utilizes four distinct stages and a dance music area called Klubs++
. More than 60 artists are scheduled to perform, many of whom have prepared shows specifically for this event. The international roster is anchored by several high-profile electronic and alternative acts.

- Sigma: A drum and bass duo from the United Kingdom.
- Gogol Bordello: A gipsy punk group from the United States.
- Tommy Cash: A prominent artist from Estonia.
Local representation is equally dense, with appearances by Tautumeitas, Bermudu divstūris, rapper Ansis, and Deniss.
Camping Logistics and the Tent City
For many, the festival experience began on Thursday, July 30. Registration for the tent city opened at 4:00 p.m., though crowds gathered at the entrance significantly earlier. After security checks and receiving their wristbands, guests began selecting spots and setting up their camps.
The tent city is a comprehensive hub featuring showers, sanitation facilities, and a dedicated dining area. More than 750 attendees spent the first night in the camp while awaiting the official start of the festival. In contrast to the tent city, the camper zone was completely sold out before the event even began.
Vivi Rail Expansion for Attendee Transit
To manage the influx of tens of thousands of music fans, the transport provider Vivi arranged five additional train trips between Riga and Liepāja. These extra services were based on requests from event organizers to the Autotransport Directorate and approved by the Public Transport Council.

Vivi implemented specific security measures for these trips, including conductors equipped with body cameras and the presence of security guards on the August 1 and 2 routes. The trains continued to serve standard stops including Torņakalns, Olaine, Jelgava, Dobele, Biksti, Saldus, and Skrunda.
Saturday Schedule and Public Access
The festival’s second day, Saturday, August 1, begins at 10:00 a.m. In a move to integrate the local community and casual visitors, the festival territory will remain free of charge for everyone until 4:00 p.m.
During this window, attendees can access concerts in the Jūrmala park and on the beach, as well as a beach volleyball tournament. This transition from a free public space to a ticketed event highlights the festival’s dual role as both a massive commercial attraction and a regional cultural gathering.
