Suncheon City (Mayor Noh Kwan-gyu) announced that it successfully concluded the ’41st Suncheon Palma Cultural Festival’ held for four days from the 15th to the 18th in the downtown area with the theme of ‘Palmaya (八馬夜) Cheonghaya (淸夏夜) – Palma’s Night, Clear and Blue Summer Night’.

This event was held together with the previously held Cultural Heritage Night Walk event. The Palma Cultural Festival conveyed the value of the region’s cultural arts to citizens, and through the night walk, the historical and cultural heritage values ​​contained in the cultural heritage were shown.

This combined festival was attended by approximately 58,000 citizens and visitors, who enjoyed the festival throughout the city center, and its warmth spread throughout the local commercial districts.

The Palma Cultural Festival, now in its 41st year, is Suncheon’s representative cultural festival that spreads and inherits the ‘Palma Spirit’ of Choi Seok, the symbol of integrity, through culture and art. This year in particular, cultural content that conveys the tough topic of ‘integrity’ in a friendly way to people of various classes stood out.

The ceremony began with a march by a troupe and ended with a VR drawing performance that combined cutting-edge technology and cultural arts, breaking the mold and capturing the attention of the audience with a performance that combined tradition and modernity. In addition, programs for all generations, from children to the middle-aged, were held, including a science concert by science creator Orbit, a Tanghulu Challenge by influencer Serve, and a congratulatory performance by singer Min Kyung-hoon.

On the 18th, the last day of the festival, about 200 citizens, workers, and volunteers gathered together with visitors and marched from Palmabi to Seomun Information Center, carrying hanji lanterns and lanterns, with the hope that the light of vitality would continue in the downtown area. They encouraged each other for their hard work in the four-day event in the hot weather, marking the finale of the festival.
