The Gender Equality Policy Award is an award system designed to discover and spread excellent gender equality policies implemented by local governments and institutions.
With the vision of ‘warm companionship, a gender equal society where everyone is happy’, the city is establishing and promoting gender equality policies with the goals of creating an environment where people work and care together, promoting safety and health rights, and spreading the foundation for gender equality.
In particular, we are promoting a culture based on gender equality, such as ▲establishing a foundation for promoting gender equality, ▲promoting gender equality education for visiting citizens, ▲hospital care services for sick children for work-family balance, ▲women-family friendly village creation project, and ▲safe home set support project for female single-person households. Meanwhile, Suncheon City (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) won the Excellence Award in the export field at the 2024 Agricultural and Fishery Food Export Outstanding City-County Selection and Export Tower Awards Ceremony held at the Namak Sky Convention Center on the 26th. In addition, Suncheon City proved its global competitiveness by winning the ‘4 Million Dollar Export Tower’ from Changdae Co., Ltd., a local export company.
‘Excellent cities and counties for agricultural and fisheries food exports’ were selected through expert review by evaluating the export performance of 22 cities and counties in Jeollanam-do from October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024.
The city is exporting 47 agricultural specialty products, including fresh agricultural products such as pears, rice, persimmons, and sweet persimmons, and processed plum foods, with a goal of exporting 22 billion won this year. As of last October, exports amounted to 17.6 billion won and continued growth. In particular, to support export companies in the region, we held four working-level council meetings with experts from aT (Korea Agro-Fisheries and Food Trade Corporation), and launched an overseas market development team led by export company representatives to successfully pioneer new overseas markets, such as Thailand.
The ‘Jeonnam Top Export Company for Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock and Fisheries Products’ is selected among the province’s agriculture, forestry, livestock and fishery products exporters for companies that have achieved export performance of 1 to 9 million dollars and recorded an export increase of more than 15% compared to the previous year.
Changdae Co., Ltd., a local export company, exports processed foods such as salted seafood and dried fish, and is contributing to revitalizing the export of local agricultural and fishery products by pioneering new markets targeting the Philippines and Malaysia starting in 2023, achieving a 30% growth in sales.
