In connection with the heat, a yellow warning has been announced throughout the country, which will be in effect on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
At night, precipitation is not expected in Latvia, a slow to moderate east, south-east wind will blow. Fog may form locally in the east. As the sky clears, the air temperature at night will drop to +10..+15 degrees, on the coast – to +15..+18 degrees.
During the day, the weather will be sunny, but in the evening, the amount of clouds will increase and in some places in the west, short-term rain is expected, and a thunderstorm is also possible.
South-easterly, southerly winds will be light to moderate, but will shift from the west and increase in the afternoon. Gusts up to 15-17 m/s are expected in the western regions. The air will warm up to +27..+31 degrees.
The weather is also sunny in Riga, but in the evening the clouds will bring temporary rain. A slow to moderate southeasterly, southerly wind will shift from the west in the evening and gust to 14 m/s. The thermometer will rise to the mark of +29..+31 degrees.
Forecasters warn that the heat causes additional stress on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Elderly people, infants, as well as representatives of other age groups suffering from chronic diseases, are exposed to the risk of health problems in hot weather.
With the sun shining, the ultraviolet radiation (UV) index will reach a medium level on Sunday, so forecasters also advise not to stay in direct sunlight for a long time.
The rescuers remind that an overheated person should not go quickly into cold water, because a rapid change in temperature can cause heart rhythm disturbances and sudden death.
