Sunday, September 1st. World Day for the Care of Creation – Church of Cagliari

by time news

Sunday, September 1st is the “World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation” which opens the annual appointment with “The Time of Creation” that will continue throughout the month and will conclude on Friday, October 4th, the feast of Saint Francis of Assisi. These are days in which Catholics join with Christians from all over the world and of all denominations to pray and reflect together.

The theme for this year, “Hope and act with creation,” is proposed in the message sent by Pope Francis and recalls the passage from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Romans (8:19-25) in which the Apostle clarifies what it means to live according to the Spirit.

Also this year, in the Diocese of Cagliari, some events will characterize this period. Following the reflection of last year, in which the problem of climate change was addressed with its implications, the increasingly critical aspect of drought and the consequent scourge of water shortage will be highlighted with three meetings:

  • Sunday 22 September, at Molentargius Park: in collaboration with the Ecumenical Working Group, a round table discussion between representatives of the Christian Churches present in the area that will conclude with an ecumenical prayer meeting.
  • On Sunday 29 September, the date on which the World Day of Migrants and Refugees occurs, in collaboration with the Migrantes Office of the Diocese there will be moments of reflection that will conclude with an interreligious prayer meeting.
  • Friday 4 October, in collaboration with the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Sardinia and the Ecumenical Working Group, a conference on the theme «Water, source of life».
