October begins with instability in much of Brazil, according to the weather forecast. For the morning of this Sunday, the 1st, the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issues warnings regarding intense rain, storms and coastal winds.

In the South and part of the Southeast, the warning is for more intense rain. It should rain up to 50 mm by 10 am today, in the range that encompasses the east of Santa Catarina, the east of Paraná and part of the east of São Paulo, encompassing the south coast of São Paulo, the Ribeira Valley and the metropolitan region of the capital of State.

In this part of the country, the rain will be accompanied by intense winds, of up to 60 km/h.

For the strip that encompasses the entire territories of Acre and Rondônia, in addition to the west of Amazonas and the extreme northwest of Mato Grosso, the warning that the Inmet It’s the same in relation to the South and São Paulo: intense rains until 10 am this Sunday, with accumulations and gusts of wind.

“Low risk of electricity cuts”, informs Inmet, regarding one of the possible risks resulting from intense rains. “Fall tree branches, flooding and electrical discharges.”

The intense rains are not, however, responsible for the only warnings this morning from Inmet. According to the weather forecast, the day will also be stormy and coastal winds.

The storm warning covers areas of the Southeast, Midwest and North. The warning, which is also valid until 10 am today, refers to the following parts of the country:

São Paulo (northern half); Minas Gerais (south, Triângulo and west); Federal District; Goiás (except in the north); Mato Grosso do Sul (northeast, north and northwest); Mato Grosso (except the northeast and extreme northwest); Pará (only a small strip in the southwest); and Amazonas (only a small strip in the southeast).

In addition to the accumulation of 50 mm and gusts of wind, the Inmet warning reinforces that there is a risk of hail. According to the weather forecast, flooding may occur.

Finally, there is a warning of coastal winds this Sunday morning. The alert, namely, applies to the band that goes from Santos (SP) to Cabo Frio (RJ). According to Inmet, the intensification of the wind tends to move sand dunes over buildings close to the coast.
