Sunil Gavaskar regrets that he misrepresented his criticism of Warne.
Famous cricketer Warne recently died of a heart attack while on a trip to Thailand. Gavaskar, a former player who was interviewed on private television in this situation, would not say Warne is the best spinner. Warne did not bowl well against India. He took 5 wickets only once against India. Indian spinners and Muralitharan are better spinners than Warne. Muralitharan has bowled well against India. I would say Muralitharan is a better spinner than Warne.
Gavaskar’s criticism of Warne came at a time when fans were paying tribute to him. Gavaskar regretted his speech. In a video he shared on his Instagram page, he said:
In a televised interview, Warne was asked if he was the best spinner. I said my personal opinion on that. That question should not have been asked and should not have been answered. This is not the time to compare anyone with anyone. Warne is one of the greatest cricketers to ever play cricket. Gavaskar has said that his soul should rest in peace.
