Minnesota to Experience Rain and Storms Throughout the Week

July 9, 2023

Minnesota’s Weather Authority and Meteorologist Matt Serwe have released the Sunday afternoon forecast for July 9, 2023. According to the forecast, Minnesota will see rain and storms throughout the week as a result of a big pattern shift.

On Sunday, temperatures were closer to average, but an isolated storm is expected to hit northern Minnesota in the evening. A cold front further north has a higher chance of bringing rain and storms to far northern Minnesota tonight. This front will move south on Monday, causing the rain to stop in the morning and early afternoon. However, once it reaches the Twin Cities, where highs will be in the low 90s, more storms are expected to develop near and south of the metro after 3:00 PM. Some of these storms could bring gusty winds, small hail, and locally heavy rain. They will quickly push south after sunset on Monday.

Tuesday is predicted to be the only dry day of the week, with highs dropping into the mid and upper 70s. However, a significant pattern shift is expected that will bring rain and storm chances to Minnesota and Wisconsin for several days. An upper-level low will sit over part of Ontario and Manitoba, causing weak disturbances to spin south and east from Wednesday to Saturday. This will result in scattered rain and storms each afternoon, although there will also be dry stretches during the day. Due to the rain and clouds, temperatures will stay near or slightly below average, ranging from the low to mid 80s.

Residents of Minnesota are advised to stay updated on the weather conditions throughout the week and take necessary precautions during the storms.
