Fifteen days remain for the ‘V Lomeña Facades Irun Half Marathon +10K’ to be held, a test that goes beyond sports, which the Super Amara-Bidasoa Atletiko Taldea wants to turn into a popular athletics festival.

As the date of February 26 approaches, the number of participants grows, which currently stands at 631, of which 366 will go for the 21,097 kilometers and 265, for the ten. It is expected that in this final stretch towards D-day, the number of registrants will continue to grow, who must sign up at www.kirolprobak.com or at www.mediamaratonirun.com. In the second you can find all the information regarding the appointment.

At this time the price of the numbers is 26 euros in the half marathon and 17 in the 10K, which will rise to 30 and 20 in the last week. There are 40% discounts for those who are going to run for the fifth time, for those under 27 years of age and for groups of ten or more and 25% for those who are facing their fourth participation.

The Super Amara-BAT needs volunteers, who will be rewarded with the test shirt, hamaiketako and twenty euros

It will be difficult for the race to reach the numbers of previous editions, although it will not be far. 968 and 967 signed up the first two years and the record is 1,102 registered in 2020. After the suspension of 2021, it returned in 2022 with 823 participants.

Official presentation

In the San Juan square, which will be the goal of the two races, the official presentation of the fifth edition took place.

Iñigo Eseverri, responsible for BAT events, pointed out that “we want it to be a party for the city. Let people get involved, take to the streets to cheer on the runners”. In this sense, “we have proposed to enhance the animation along the route and there will be several surprises.”

He warned of the “complexity of organizing a test of this type and in this we are helped by the municipal police, Ertzaintza and civil protection.” He thanked the involvement of “institutions such as the City Council and the Provincial Council; sponsors, the main ones being Lomeña Fachadas, AB Soluciones Industriales and Deportes González; all the BAT people who are involved in the organization; and the volunteers.

The organization needs more than 200 people to collaborate on various tasks on race day and before. Volunteers, who can sign up through the website www.mediamaratonirun.com, will receive a test t-shirt, sandwich and drink and twenty euros.

In the presentation, Borja Olazabal, Councilor for Sports in Irun, wanted to “thank BAT for organizing this event, which is now in its fifth edition and is growing.” He took the opportunity to “encourage everyone to enjoy a very participatory test, in which each one will choose their distance and pace.”

Two of the three main sponsors were present at the presentation. Marta Lasagabaster, from Lomeña Fachadas, assured that “we are delighted to be able to collaborate with a race like the half marathon and with a benchmark club such as the BAT” and Alberto Benito, from AB Soluciones Industriales, highlighted that “as a regular participant in the tests organized by the BAT, including previous editions of this half marathon, it is an honor to help and sponsor.
