Super Bowl under the influence of Taylor Swift: all the music from the biggest night in North American sport

by time news

The 58th Super Bowl, the final of the North American football championship, takes place this Sunday.

This year, the final will pit the Kansas City Chiefs, where Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, will play against the San Francisco 49ers. The presence of the North American star at the Allegiant stadium, in Las Vegas, is overshadowing the usual musical ‘menu’ ‘served’ at halftime of the match, with Usher as the highlight.

Gracie Hunt, daughter of the president and CEO of the Kansas City Chiefs, Clark Hunt, told People magazine that Swift will arrive directly from Tokyo, where she has been at concerts in recent days. “She’s on her way! We are excited,” she said.

The American national anthem, in what is a tradition at major sporting events in the USA, will be performed by country singer Reba McEntire; rapper Post Malone will sing the patriotic theme ‘America the Beautiful’, and R&B singer Andra Day will perform the anthem ‘Lift Every Voice and Sing’.

Kaskade will also be present, who will have the honor of being the first DJ to perform at the Super Bowl. The North American will replace Dutchman Tiësto, who had to cancel his performance due to a family problem.

At half-time, Usher enters. The R&B singer, who released a new album last Friday, “Coming Home” (the ninth of his career), promised a tribute “to the great black artists” who preceded him. Usher is expected to perform some of his biggest hits, such as ‘Burn’ or ‘OMG’, with several North American media outlets announcing that he will have Alicia Keys as a guest. In 2011, the musician performed at the Super Bowl as a guest of the Black Eyed Peas.

The game can be watched on the Eleven 1 channel, starting at 11:30 pm in mainland Portugal, and the halftime show should take place from 1 am in the morning.
