Director Mani Ratnam announced a new film with Rajinikanth. It was earlier reported that Rajinikanth has signed two films produced by Lyca Productions. Mani Ratnam will direct a film in this. Rajinakanth and Mani Ratnam are coming together after 31 years. ‘Dalapati’ released in 1991 was the only film in which both of them worked together. The script for the film has not been completed.
After the post-production works of Mani Ratnam film Ponniyin Selvan 2nd part, the pre-production work of the new film will begin. Pennyin Selvan 2 is slated to release in 2023. It is expected that the official announcement of the new film will be made during the release of the film.
Rajinikanth was an active presence at functions including the audio launch of Ponniyin Selvan. Rajinikanth expressed his desire to play a character in the film. He was asked to give him the role of Periya Pavuvettarayar. But do you want me to be humiliated by your fans’ was Mani Ratnam’s retort. Rajinikanth’s upcoming film ‘Jailor’ is directed by Nelson Dilip Kumar. The shooting of the film is in progress. The makers of the film, Sun Pictures, aim to release the film in theaters in April 2023. Jailer is reportedly going to be a full-length action film. Along with Rajinikanth, Sivarajkumar will also be a part of the film. Music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander. There are also reports that Sivakarthikeyan and Chimbu may be a part of the film.
