The Oversight Commission closed the stage of taking documentary and testimonial evidence, in the substantiation of the request for impeachment against Fausto Murillo and José Morillo, member and former member of the Judiciary Council (CJ), respectively.

For this purpose, the commissioners received assembly member Viviana Veloz, first vice president of the National Assembly, who recalled that the previous Legislature carried out a political trial against the five members of the CJ, but that the 92 votes necessary for their censure were not reached and dismissal.

Regarding the arrogation of functions of Dr. Fausto Murillo, having exercised the temporary Presidency of the organization, he stressed that the Constitutional Court established that the Plenary of the CJ disrespected the Constitution and the Law, by appointing Murillo as president, a position that corresponded to the doctor. Álvaro Román Márquez.

He added that, even, the actions of the Judiciary Council transgressed the constitutional ruling that protected the decisions of the Council of Citizen Participation and Transitory Social Control (CPCCST), a body that appointed Dr. Román as alternate to María del Carmen Maldonado, former president. of the CJ.

Likewise, a series of documents sent by the National Court of Justice (CNJ), by the Council of the Judiciary, among other entities, were read, regarding the judicial and disciplinary processes that are being followed due to the alleged influence peddling that It involves two former members of the CJ and a judge from Pichincha.

Regarding the documentation sent by the National Court of Justice of the process for influence peddling, based on the legislation that guarantees the rights of those who act as protected witnesses, this will be kept in custody in the office of the Presidency of the table and, within the period for evaluating the evidence, it will be made known to all its members.

Pamela Aguirre, president of the commission, recalled that the file has more than 15 thousand pages and that, to date, all the documentary, videographic and testimonial evidence requested by the parties has been completed and, ex officio, in accordance with the provisions of the Organic Law of the Legislative Function.
