She fell from second place to fifth in the preferences of Greek voters, according to a survey

Support for Greece’s left-wing SYRIZA party, the second largest in the country’s parliament, has plummeted after an internal party crisis that began after June’s European Parliament elections led to the ousting of Stefanos Kaselakis from the leadership post. This is shown by the latest public opinion survey conducted by the Metron Analysis agency and published by the Greek media this week, reports BTA.

According to the data, SYRIZA fell from second to fifth place in the preferences of Greek voters.

“New Democracy” retains its first place in the preferences of the Greeks. 22 percent of those asked would vote for her, which, if those who said they would not vote or did not answer the question were subtracted, means she would receive 29.8 percent in the election, a result slightly higher than that of the European elections in June.

After many years outside the first two political forces, the center-left PASOK movement is in second place – respectively with support of 11.6 percent and a potential election result of 15.7 percent.

They are followed by the right-wing populist Greek Decision (8.1 and 10.9 percent respectively) and the Greek Communist Party (7.2 and 9.7 percent).

Only then is the until-recent second force SYRIZA, with support from 7 percent of those polled and election prospects from 9.5 percent.
